Work

How do you determine the right gutter size and number of downpipes?
We look at roof catchment area, pitch, valley flow points, and where water concentrates during rainfall. If a roof has large sections or heavy water flow zones, we may recommend larger gutters or additional downpipes to prevent overflow. The goal is reliable drainage without staining, pooling, or water damage.
Why do gutters overflow even when they look ‘fine’?
Overflow can happen due to incorrect fall (pitch), blocked outlets, insufficient downpipes, or gutter capacity that’s too small for the roof area. Sometimes the gutter is installed level or even back-falling, which prevents proper flow. We assess the full system—alignment, joints, outlets, and water path—to fix the real cause.
Can you fix sagging gutters or do they need replacing?
It depends on the condition. If the gutter material is still sound and the issue is bracket spacing or alignment, it may be repairable. If there’s rust, cracking, leaking joints, or repeated overflow problems, replacement is usually the better long-term solution.
Do you install leaf guard, and is it worth it?
Yes, we can install leaf guard where suitable. It can reduce leaf build-up, but it’s not a ‘set and forget’ solution—some maintenance is still needed. Whether it’s worth it depends on tree coverage, roof design, and how often gutters currently block. We’ll recommend the best option for your home.
How often should gutters and downpipes be cleaned or checked?
As a general rule, check gutters at least twice per year and after major storms—more often if you have heavy tree coverage. Regular checks prevent blockages, overflow stains, and hidden water damage. If you’re seeing overflow, rust, or sagging, it’s best to inspect sooner rather than later.
